Another symptom of type-2 diabetes is known as acanthosis nigricans. Here, the skin turns black or brown in color. The skin may also look velvety. These signs are most common on the neck and the armpits; this is usually caused by the insulin resistance that is caused by type 2 diabetes. Itchy dry skin is a symptom of diabetes. If you notice that your skin is getting darker around the neck, you could be suffering from diabetes. When feet or hands have burning pains, they swell up. This means that diabetes is already taking a toll on the victim since the nerves are getting damaged. Luckily for patients, these conditions are usually reversible.
